Overheating laptop problems.

How can you tell if your laptop is overheating? Its normally quite easy to tell here's some tell tale signs.

  • Your laptop fan is on all the time and sounds like it could take off.
  • You get seemingly random crashes.
  • The blue screen of death appears after prolonged use.
  • You can actually feel the heat on your lap.

The problem with laptops is that you have so many components confined within a small place. Most, if not all, of these components give off significant heat. The CPU also known as the processor is the usually the hottest and it must be cooled with either a heatsink and a fan.

Laptops are normally kept in dusty environment and the dust enters your laptop and clogs up this heatsink leading to reduced cooling. The laptop can no longer expel air and the cpu rapidly heats up reaching dangerous temperatures. Inbuilt in all laptops is a fail safe technology built into the laptop that switches off your laptop to prevent damage.

Can you guys fix it?

Yes!!! We have the tools to thouroughly clean your laptop and you should notice a dramatic improvement immediately. To stop this problem happening again you should ensure that you do the following;

  • Avoid resting your laptop on upholstered surfaces such as the sofa.
  • Keep dust to a minimum in your home or workplace.
  • Ensure the inlet and outlet of your laptop are never rested again any surface, give the laptop space to breathe.

The inlet and outlet grills of your laptop are normally situated on the sides or the bottom. You can gently place a hoover against these and suck up any residual dust but make sure your laptop is off when you try to do this. The actual heatsink however is well within the confines of the laptop itself and cannot be cleaned without the help of a trained technician. damage can easily occurr if you attempt to open it yourself and clean the heatsink.
